Low Country Dolls By Marina

Marina is a local artist who has won several awards, been featured on TV shows and has been published.  She was commissioned by the White House to do a special Santa for the Blue Room.

Please Note:  Each doll is individually sculpted and is one of a kind.  The expression, fabrics and/or accessories may vary.

Cake Walk Doll    $250

The Cake Walk was a tradition that started in the 1850s and was the origin of American Swing.  This doll is the high stepping, prize winning dance contest winner.  Made with vintage fabrics from 1920s dresses, the figure comes with a detailed history.  18 1/2 inches tall.   

Sweet Grass Basket Maker  $129

Historical sweet grass basket weaver of Charleston.  Doll is seated on a chair (included), holding an authentic sweet grass basket woven the same way it was centuries ago. History included.  13 inches sitting.    

Gullah Children   $39.95 

Black Low Country children.  "Da chilren" are carrying a stuffed animal or doll and wearing tattered clothes.  5 inches sitting.  

Fisher Woman  $149

Includes fishing gear and miscellaneous catch.  12 inches sitting.

She Crabber  $149

Miss Thelma Lee's Excellent She-Crab Soup:  "Gooder than snuff and it ain't half as dusty."  10 inches sitting.
